Hawass and Cayce

What is the strange connection between Dr Hawass and the ARE?
When will somebody stand up to the last great pharaoh, Dr Zahi Hawass? The current secretary-general of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) and Director of the Giza Pyramids rules the treasures of Egypt with an iron fist and an ego that rivals the Great Pyramid in size.
Sure, he's done some excellent conservation work in Egypt, and he's always got a smile for the cameras. But that's exactly where the problem lies - Dr Hawass loves attention so much that all else is insignificant, even his beloved tombs.
So while he may issue stern lectures about Sting playing a rock concert
in front of the Sphinx, destroying Egypt's heritage, when it comes to
'Lights, Camera, Action', we've all seen Dr Hawass tripping over relics
and bones in his haste to entertain the audience.
Above and beyond that though, the tactics Dr Hawass employs to quash
dissenting opinion are untenable. The most often heard excuse is
'breach in protocol' - if Dr Hawass doesn't like what you're doing,
you'll be out on your ear in no time. Cue the curtain from which
emerges Rudolf Gantenbrink and Dr Joann Fletcher. The rule of 'ban the
sponsoring institution' is a handy weapon in Dr Hawass' hands, it
ensures that individuals who wish to speak out are bound by their duty
to their academic or business institution.
The Rudolf Gantenbrink business is a massive scandal unto itself. After
the initial bad blood over the discovery and publicizing of the
'air-shaft door' in the Queen's Chamber, Gantenbrink worked hard to
restore relations with Dr Hawass. He visited on numerous occasions, and
at one point even offered simply to train Egyptian personnel to work
the Upuaut robot rather than be involved himself - to no avail. This
was obviously a 'big fish' that Dr Hawass wanted to land himself, and
those who have read GIZA: THE TRUTH or SECRET CHAMBER will know that a
number of attempts were made to get the project off the ground before
National Geographic finally stepped in (exploring the shafts once more
after a full decade of debacles).
His behaviour during this time was illustrative of the personality
behind the smiling face. First, it was one of Egypt's greatest
discoveries, then it was "not a door", and after that Dr Hawass'
opinion flip-flopped depending on the situation he found himself in. He
accused Gantenbrink of being with the 'pyramidiots', despite the German
engineer's efforts to distance himself from allegiance with any group.
This behaviour has been mimicked on many occasions, from Dr Hawass'
perplexing statements on the 'Tomb of Osiris' to his 'Indiana Jones'
impersonation for the ARE cameras.
And the ARE research brings up another, more curious aspect, to Dr
Hawass' behaviour. Despite repeated accusations thrown at the
'alternative history' camp, he nevertheless continually supported
investigative work on the Giza Plateau by Dr Joseph Schor and his ARE
colleagues (ostensibly under the 'institution' of Florida State
University). Over a two decade period, these followers of Edgar Cayce
were allowed to drill exploratory holes and film in tunnels under the
Sphinx - with one express motive in mind. Yes, the official papers
would have said 'restoration work' or similar, but we all know the
prime reason for the ARE to investigate the Sphinx enclosure at Giza
(that's the search for Cayce's "Hall of Records" if I'm assuming too
much).
So, despite branding alternative researchers as 'pyramidiots', and
accusing them of attacking him, he actively supported one of the
largest (and most well-funded) alternative groups in their excavations
at Giza. And then, on the turn of the (Christian) millennium, Dr Hawass
suggests dropping a big gold capstone on top of the Great Pyramid. He
named historical evidence about a party to celebrate the finishing of
the pyramid as the reason for such a move, but surely he could not have
been ignorant (nor could there be such a coincidence) that there is a
Masonic prophecy that a 'New Order of the Ages' will be inaugurated
when a gold capstone is placed on top of Khufu's pyramid? Or even more
pertinent to this article, that Edgar Cayce predicted the same event,
and that it would act as a 'symbol' for the rediscovery of the
legendary 'Hall of Records of Atlantis'. It's interesting to note that
a professor from Cairo University who objected to the capstone ceremony
disputed Dr Hawass' reasons. "The idea of placing a golden capstone has
no historical precedent. No gold or silver were used in building the
pyramids," said Professor Abdel Hamid Zayed
And now, more recently, Dr Hawass has said he believes there is a
chamber behind the 'Gantenbrink Door', basing his reasoning on the
Egyptian story of "Khufu and the Magician". This tale tells how Khufu
summoned the magician Djedi to ask him about the secret documents of
the god Thoth, and the special rooms holding this information, so he
could design his Pyramid on those principles. So, once again, Dr Hawass
appears to be searching for the lost texts of Thoth...a "Hall of
Records" if ever there was one.
All this despite quite fervent statements from Dr Hawass that there is
no Masonic connection, and that he has no affiliation with the Cayce
organization. The dots do seem to be connecting in a very strange
manner all the same...
